Cassidy Conley has been deeply involved in the political field since 2016, driven by the pivotal presidential election. However, her passion for public service predates this, with her first foray into campaign organizing at the tender age of 8. This early experience ignited a lasting commitment to leadership. Throughout her journey, Cassidy has ardently championed the cause of encouraging young participation in politics and civic engagement, recognizing the profound role the youth play in shaping the present and future.

Regional Director, Michigan Federation of College Democrats

In her role as the Southeast Regional Director in Michigan, Cassidy has taken on the responsibility of nurturing the expansion of local chapters and the establishment of new chapters within her community. Appointed by President Jacob Welch in June 2023, Cassidy has dedicated herself to amplifying the region's collective voice. Through her diligent efforts, she has orchestrated regional meetings and summits, fostering a sense of community among local chapters while actively promoting collaboration between them. Guided by her visionary perspective, Cassidy is propelling the Southeast region to unprecedented heights, driving positive change and growth within the community.

President, Wayne State University College Democrats

The Wayne State College Democrats, established in 2014 on Wayne State's campus, have seen a series of different leaders. In September 2023, Cassidy assumed the role of President of this organization, charged with the mission to revitalize it alongside her dedicated team. In a relatively brief period, Cassidy has orchestrated a series of robust engagement opportunities, both on campus and within the local community. Her vision extends beyond merely uniting Democrats; it encompasses a more ambitious objective of expanding the Democratic Party's influence, fostering cohesive efforts, and ensuring an influential presence. National Committeewoman, Young Democrats of Michigan

Serving on the National Committee, Cassidy undertakes the vital role of representing YDM (Young Democrats of Michigan) members at conferences throughout the nation. In this capacity, she collaborates closely with other members of the executive team to drive various initiatives forward. Cassidy and her team have organized and facilitated a range of engagement opportunities, including canvassing efforts, roundtable discussions, and more, all designed to encourage and involve young individuals in the realm of politics. Furthermore, they actively support emerging young political candidates, underscoring her dedication to fostering youth participation and advocacy in the political sphere.

City of Detroit

Social Media, Mayor's Office

Cassidy's role on the Mayor's social media team for the City of Detroit, Mayor's Office, has given her the incredible opportunity to bring a human touch to the mayor's social media presence. This effort has resulted in a exponential growth in the Mayor's social media followers and engagement since the summer of 2023, which is a clear testament to the effective strategies and content. In 2022, she joined the team and has continued to grow with them!

Priorities

Mental Health 

It is no secret that mental health is a rising issue in our communities. Mental health disparities among minority groups are a direct consequence of deeply ingrained systemic injustices, notably discrimination and restricted access to care. This crisis has been a top priority for Cassidy due to the urgency it demands, requiring an empathetic and policy-driven approach. Although mental health is now more openly discussed, concrete and immediate action remains elusive. Our society continues to grapple with insufficient access to essential mental health resources, while our leaders have yet to prioritize this critical issue. As a civilian and emerging young leader, addressing mental health disparities stands as a personal commitment. It's imperative to recognize that mental health is not an isolated concern but an underpinning of all others, and until this collective understanding prevails, our solutions will remain inadequate for the scale of the challenge.

Women's Rights

Women's rights are human rights. Ensuring gender equality is not just a matter of justice but a fundamental principle of a fair and progressive society. It's vital to recognize that the struggle for women's rights is intersectional. Women of color often face unique challenges and forms of discrimination that must be specifically addressed. Achieving gender equality requires acknowledging and actively dismantling the different disparities of all women. Addressing these disparities, and guaranteeing equal opportunities are essential steps in building a more inclusive and equitable world for all. Whether that is in the workplace, sports teams, or at home.

Criminal Justice Reform/Rehabilitation

Criminal justice reform and rehabilitation hold a special place in my heart. Cassidy believes in a justice system that prioritizes compassion and second chances over punitive measures. It's not just about retribution; it's about restoring individuals to productive, law-abiding lives. She is committed to advocating for policies and initiatives that address the root causes of crime, reduce recidivism, and provide the support and resources needed for individuals to reintegrate successfully into society. By championing reform and rehabilitation, she aspire to create a more just, compassionate, and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities.

Gun Violence Prevention

Cassidy is deeply committed to the cause of gun violence prevention. She believes that every life lost to gun violence is a tragedy that can be prevented through responsible and sensible policies. Cassidy advocates for comprehensive background checks, the restriction of access to firearms for individuals with a history of violence or severe mental illness, and an overall reduction in the prevalence of firearms in our society, and the banning of assault rifles. She's also a strong proponent of addressing the emerging challenges posed by 3D printed guns, recognizing the need for updated legislation to prevent the unregulated spread of such firearms. Her unwavering dedication to this cause is driven by a vision of a safer and more secure future, where every individual can live without the constant threat of gun violence. The issue of gun violence is extremely complex and requires action. 

Clean Energy 

Cassidy supports clean energy and its potential to transform our world. She believes in the power of sustainable solutions to combat climate change, reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and create a cleaner, healthier future for generations to come. Cassidy is dedicated to advocating for policies and initiatives that promote renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices.
